At the Augusta National course, home to the Masters. Rae's Creek is the water in front of the par-3 12th green. John Rae built a house next to the creek in 1765 and it was sometimes used as a haven during Indian attacks. President Eisenhower suggested the creation of a fish pond and the 8th and 9th holes now play around it. Eisenhower also had another landmark on the course, the Eisenhower Tree, which was named because he hit it so many time while playing the 17th hole, but it was fatally damaged in 2014 after an ice storm.

Jordan Spieth won the 2015 Masters by 4 strokes, and his 270, 18 under par, finish equalled Tiger Woods' 1997 record. He won the US Open by 1 stroke over Phil Mickelson and Justin Rose. In the same year he also finished second in the PGA Championship 3 strokes behind winner Jason Day.

There are four golf majors. The Masters is held in April, the US Open in June and the British Open in July. The final Major of the year is the PGA Championship held in August.

Astronaut Alan Shepard famously hit two golf balls on the moon on the Apollo 14 mission and Edgar Mitchell picked up a rod from a solar-wind experiment and then threw it like a javelin. The javelin travelled just further than the golf balls and is now known as Javelin Crater.
